5/4/10 - Riding the Fence
Post by Shannon Seefeldt

I meet so many people in life that seem to be riding that invisible fence line with God’s plan on one side and their plan on the other. We tend to think we know what is best, whether it is for: others, our families, or ourselves. We want faith in the deepest part of our souls, but yet we feel the need to add our own twists to satisfy our needs or desires. For example: Premarital sex, drugs, alcohol, lust, greed and the list goes on and on. Life’s biggest troubles stem from the fact we forget what God has done for us and what He is still trying to do for us with every breathe He allows us. His plan calls for discipline, but offers redemption, forgiveness, peace, and unconditional love. So you are probably wondering why so many choose to ride that fence line. It is more simple than one would think, but yet very complex to those who live on the fence line. It all comes down to the simple fact of giving up control and placing our life in the ever-capable hands of our creator. Have we forgotten what He has already done for us? His own Son did not question His plan so, why are we?

Now it won’t always be easy, but what is? It won't be roses or pain free, but the reward is more than one could imagine. If you take that leap and hop down from the fence line you will see the power and glory that He will inject into your life. It will become so overwhelming that your only choice is to share it with others, and what was once discipline to hard to conquer becomes a life style that you can’t live without.

My plea for the world is to abandon your plan and follow His. Trust in Him my dear brothers and sisters and understand that His plan is beyond what our imaginations have dreamt up. Give Him control of what you no longer can bare, and jump off that fence line. The time has never been so perfect, and the need has never been so great. Speaking from experience I can tell you that jumping off the fence line has been one of my life’s greatest blessings, and I assure you it will be yours too!

For I know the plans I have for you…plans to give you hope and a future.
